    Helen L. Viergever
    Helen L Viergever, 81, of Rossville, passed away Sunday, September 24,2017.

    She was born October 11,1935 in Valencia, KS, the daughter of Andy and Lula Viergever.

    Helen was a 1953 graduate of Rossville High School. After high school she began working for Kansas Power & Light that later became Westar Energy, rising to the position of Senior Staff Accountant, retiring in 1992 after over 30 years of service.

    She was fond of travel, taking several cruises and numerous bus trips. She also worked on ceramics as a hobby for many years.

    Helen is survived by her siblings, Don Viergever of Auburn, Rose Marie Anderson (Jo) of Auburn, Anthony Viergever (Leota) of Grove, OK, Larry Viergever (Janet) of Sarasota, FL, David Viergever (Karen) of Morton, IL and Darrell Viergever (Debbie) of Mayetta, KS. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Glen and her sister Kathy.

    Helen will lie in state after 2:00, Friday, September 29 at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 that evening. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 30 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Dover Cemetery, Dover, KS.

    Memorial Contributions may be made to The Salvation Army or the Topeka Rescue Mission, Inc.
