    The marriage of Vernadell Bixby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Bixby to Joe E. Macha, son of Mr. and Mrs. Antone Macha of Delia, took place in Topeka at three o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 22. The Rev. H.H. Vogel reading the ceremony.

    The bride chose as her attendant Miss Nadine Jernigan of Topeka. Sgt. Henry Olejnik, of Washington D.C. was best man.

    A wedding dinner was served at the home of the bride's parents.

    The bride is a graduate of R.H.S. and for the past two years has been employed at the State Hospital, in Topeka.

    Mr. Macha has been farming near Delia for several years. The couple will be at home soon on a farm northeast of Rossville.

    Mr. and Mrs. Joe Macha, Delia, will celebrate their silver wedding anniversary with an open house in their home Sunday. Friends and relatives are invited to call between 2 and 5 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Macha were married Feb. 22, 1944.

    Golden Anniversary for Macha Couple
    Joe and Vernadell Macha, Delia, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on February 22.

    An early celebration was held November 20, 1993, for family and friends.

    Joe Macha and Vernadell Bixby were married February 22, 1944, in Topeka. The Rev. H. H. Vogel officiated. The couple has farmed in the Delia community since 1944. Their children are: Robert Macha, Delia; Garry Macha, Topeka; and Don Macha, Glenside, Pa. They have seven grandchildren.

    Vernadell Macha
    Vernadell Macha, 86, Topeka, passed away Friday, April 22, 2005, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

    She was born Sept. 6, 1918, in Rossville, the daughter of Albert L. and Rosa Mae Young Bixby.

    She had lived at the Presbyterian Manor in Topeka since 1995. She resided most of her life in the Delia community. She was a member of the Delia Presbyterian Church.
    She married Joseph E. Macha on Feb. 22, 1944, in Topeka. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1996.

    Surviving are three sons, Bob Macha, Delia, Garry Macha, Tulsa, Okla., and Dan Macha, Philadelphia; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

    Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Delia Presbyterian Church in Delia. Burial will be in Czech Moravan Cemetery in Rossville. She will lie in state after 2 p.m. Monday at Piper Funeral Chapel, Rossville, where there will be a visitation from 7 until 8 p.m.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association fund and sent in care of Piper Funeral Chapel, Rossville, Kan. 66533.

    Sister Vernadell Macha was born September 6, 1918 at Rossville to Albert L. and Rosamae Young Bixby and died April 22, 2005. Funeral services were held April 26, with interment at Czech Moravan Cemetery.

    Vernadell married Joseph E. Macha on February 22, 1944 at Topeka. She was a 50-year member and lodge secretary for several years.

    Survivors include three sons, Robert (Dee) Macha of Delia, Garry Macha of Tulsa, and Dan Macha of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
