Jan Marie Mergenmeier became the bride of James Eric Hinterweger, Saturday, June 7, 1980, at 2 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in St. Marys in a double ring ceremony performed by the Reverend Clarence Krajicek.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. George Mergenmeier, St. Marys, and Mr. and Mrs. Eric Hinterweger, Rossville.

The bride’s gown was made of white organza with lace detailing. The bodice of her gown was made of lace accented with pearls and a Queen Anne neckline. The A-line skirt fell to floor length from an empire waistline and the hem of the gown was accented with lace. An overskirt of lace ending in a train added to the beauty of the dress. Her floor length veil of illusion was trimmed with lace matching the lace on the gown. She wore a gold-linked necklace and carried a bouquet of yellow roses and white daisies, adorned with white ribbons.

The bride’s attendants were Sue Mergenmeier, St. Marys, sister of the bride; Cindy Heinen, Tonganoxie, cousin of the bride; and Cindy Hinterweger, Rossville, sister of the groom. They wore green polyester knit dresses styled with wrap skirts which had a self ruffle and an overblouse of sheer flocked organza.

The groom wore a white tuxedo with tails and a batwing skirt. His attire was accented with a black bow tie and a black cumberbund.

The groom’s attendants were Brett Broughten, Topeka; Steve Copeland and Danny Hinterweger, Rossville. The ushers were William Mergenmeier and Any Mergenmeier, St. Marys, and Mike Hinterweger and Brandon Magette, Rossville. They wore Bentley green tuxedos with contrasting slacks, bow ties and ruffled shirts.

Soloists were Ruth Newsham and Mark Brooks, Rossville. Ruth also played her flute. Organist was Christy l.enherr, St. Marys. Andy Mergenmeier read the readings the couple had chosen.

Kim Marney, Rossville, attended the guest book. Donna Brunin, St. Marys, Debe Miller, Topeka, and Rosemary McMurphy, Emporia, served cake and punch at the reception. Franchesca Molinar, Topeka, helped the couple open their gifts.

Jan is attending Washburn University and is employed by the accounting department at Merchants National Bank in Topeka. Jim is a graduate of Kaw Valley Vo-Tech in Civil Technology and is employed by Daniel International Construction Company at the Wolf Creek Project.

After honeymooning in Colorado, the couple is at home at 3111 S.W. Twilight Court in Topeka.
