    Leona and George Seele celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary December 5, 1994. Mrs. Seele is a resident of St. Marys Manor and George is one of the most devoted of the volunteers.

    Leona L. Seele
    St. Marys - Leona L. Seele, 86, St. Marys, died Friday, Sept. 29, 1995, at a St. Marys nursing home.

    Mrs. Seele owned and operated the Home Cafe in St. Marys and had worked for the St. Marys Manor.

    She was born Sept. 29, 1909, at the Kinsley Creek Community near Alma, the daughter of Augusta and Louise Laging Hafenstein.

    Mrs. Seele was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys and the Kaw Social Club.

    She married George Seele on Dec. 5, 1929, in St. Marys. He survives.

    Other survivors include four sons, Melvin Seele, Belvue, Ivan Seele, Paxico, Leroy Seele, in Texas, and Tom Seele, St. Marys; three daughters, Marcella Lundin, Delia, Diann Northup, Wamego, and Karen Fauerbach, St. Marys; a sister, Iva Abbot, Texas; a brother, Arnold Hafenstein, Alma; 28 grandchildren; and 47 great-grandchildren.

    Mrs. Seele was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Seele and Lloyd Seele, a grandson and three great- granddaughters.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Marys. Mrs. Seele will lie in state after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Piper-Verschelden FuŽneral Home in St. Marys, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Leona L. Seele Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.
