  Obituary- Bond, William Morris Death Claims Old Time Rossville Citizen May 29, 1952 - Buried May 29, 1952. William Morris Bond was born July 4, 1866, near Pennsboro, West Virginia. He came to Kansas at the age of two, and had lived in the county 84 years. He was the son of the late John A. and Agnes Bond. He had one sister, Lydia Bond Emert who preceded him in death. He was Married to Etta M. Shearer in January, 1892. She died June 27, 1937, after an illness of 20 years, during which time he cared for her faithfully and tenderly. Mr. Bond was by occupation a farmer. He was also one of the founders of the Peoples State Bank in Rossville, was its first vice-president, and later its president, a position which he held at the time of his death on May 27, 1952. His survivors include: Mrs. Ethelyn Ferguson, Mrs. Edna Perl and Mrs. Irene Campbell, nieces: Clarence L. Emert, nephew; Winifred McClain, Henrietta Minnis, Ethelyn Lynde, Joan Emert and Janet Louise Campbell, grandnieces; Kenneth Pearl, and Arthur Lee Campbell, grandnephews; several great-grandnieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in the Rossville Methodist church today, Thursday, May 29. Rev. Don L. Jones pastor, officiated and music was furnished by Mrs. Mary Jane Berkey, accompanied by Mrs. Lula Rachel Hill. Honorary Pallbearers were C. E. Gresser, Gus Kassebaum, Walter Cless, Fred McCollough, Henry Lambotte, Elmer Stewart and E. G. Griswold of Rossville, and Jess Harrington, of Silver Lake. Active Pallbearers were Homer Reid, Joe Gresser, Herbert Syring, Bennie Dick, Martin Whearty, and Roy McClain of Rossville. Mr. Bond by thrift and advanced cultural practices had accumulated nearly 750 acres of high productive land in Rossville township. He was noted as a shrewd business man and his advice was sought by many. Since his removal to town in the Fall of 1911 he had managed his extensive land interests from Rossville and served in many civic capacities. His death came only a week after his final illness, although he had rarely been ill during his long life.
