    Irene Cease
    Wamego – Irene May Bledsoe Nelson Cease, 82, Wamego, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at a Plattsmouth, Neb., care center.
    Mrs. Cease owned and operated a trucking company.
    She was born Aug. 31, 1918, in Rossville, the daughter of Claude and Mary Elizabeth “Mollie” Moyer Bledsoe. She attended school in Wamego and graduated from Wamego High School in 1937. She attended Emporia State University.
    Mrs. Cease was a member of Rebekah’s Order and First Baptist Church, both in Wamego. She also was a former Girl Scout Council leader.
    She married Paul Nelson, who preceded her in death. She later married Carl L. Cease Sr. in May 1962. He survives.
    Other survivors include a daughter, Paulette Sue Glover, Omaha, Neb.; a stepdaughter, Dawn Marie Blume, Milford; three stepsons, Carl Cease Jr., Scribner, Neb., and William Cease and Larry Cease; three sisters, Ada Harrell and Addrenne Roth, both of Donna, Texas, and Mary Jane “Tiny” Perine, Wamego; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren.
    Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Burial will be in Wamego City Cemetery. Mrs. Cease will lie in state at the funeral home after noon Friday, where visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
