Leamon Boone, 90, Topeka, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012, at Rossville Healthcare and Rehab Center in Rossville.
He was born June 11, 1922, at Smithville, N.C., the son of Willie and Mamie Stanley Boone. Mr. Boone served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
Leamon owned and operated Boone Office Machines with his wife Virginia from 1970 until they retired. He had worked for Remington Rand and Crane Office Machines. He was a member of Capital City Aerie 439 FOE Topeka.
Mr. Boone was preceded in death by a son, John on April 10, 2002. He was also preceded in death by two grandsons.
On June 21, 1944, he was united in marriage to Virginia Gillreath at Lawrence. They had just celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, llene Boone of Topeka; a great-granddaughter, Emily; two sons, Kenneth Boone and wife Laura of San Antonio, Texas, and Jim Boone and wife Pattie of Auburn; two sisters, Ruby Lee Jones of Virginia Beach, Va., and Cleo Cole of Hopewell, Va.; eight grandchildren, Amy Pickens of Rossville, Lisa Jesop of Marietta, Ga., Debbie Lopez of HastŽings, Neb., Jason Boone of San Antonio, Texas, Christy Snow of Salt Lake City, Utah, Christina Bell of San Antonio, Texas, Jody Monrell of Auburn, Jennifer Crews of Topeka and Rebecca Barngrover, Auburn; 23 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were June 26 at the Topeka Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Memory Care Lane at Rossville Healthcare and Rehab Center and sent in care of Piper Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 642, Rossville, KS 66533.

| Birthday- Boone, Leamon Leamon Boone, Topeka, will celebrate his 80th birthday as guest of honor at a reception from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday in Snyder's Cabin in Gage Park hosted by his family.
He was born June 11, 1922.
Mr. Boone has worked in the office machines business for 60 years and has been a business owner for the last 32 years.
He and his wife, Virginia, were married June 21, 1944.
Their children and spouses are Ken and Laura Boone, San Antonio; Jim and Patti Boone, Auburn; and Ilene and Bennie Besta, Rossville. Their son, John Boone, is deceased. They have nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. |
