    Obituary- Silvers, Emanuel
    Emanuel Silvers.
Emanuel Silvers was born in Fayall [sic], Portugal, January 16th, 1846, and came to America March 17th, 1861, landing in Boston. He remained in Boston 2 years and then came west and settled near Springfield, Ill. In 1867 he came to Kansas and to Rossville and made this town and immediate vicinity his home until his death Thursday morning, March 25, 1909. For the past year he had been in feeble health but did not take to his bed until a few days before he died. His death was due to paresis of the brain.

Mr. Silvers was married to Miss Ella Fairbanks at Hilton August 31, 1877. To this union eight children were born, for of whom died in infancy. Mrs. Silvers and four children, Clarence, Emmett, Frank and Anna, survive to mourn his going.

Mr. Silvers became a member of the Presbyterian church of this city about fourteen years ago under the preaching of Evangelist Shawhan. He was also a member of the A.O.U.W. in which order he carried $2000 life insurance.

The funeral service was held Friday afternoon, March 26th, in the Presbyterian church, the Rev. H.L. Nelson delivering a touching and impressive address to a crowded house. Many beautiful floral offerings were banked about the casket. At the request of the deceased the A.O.U.W. lodge had charge of the service and the ritualistic ceremony was followed at the church and cemetery. Mr. Silver had been a member of this order for more than 27 years.
