    DR. FRED BROWN
    Dr. Fred Elijah Brown, age 80, of Maysville, Colo., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at the Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center. Dr. Brown was born May 2, 1926 in Lancaster, Kan. to Fred E. and Mary Teresa Laris Brown.
    Dr. Brown was a physician in St. Marys for 34 years. He attended medical school at Kansas Univer¬sity. In 1972, Dr. Brown was elected a charter fellow in the American Academy of Family Practice. He also served as a pre¬ceptor to medical students from Kansas University for many years. He retired in 1989 and he and his wife moved to Maysville.
    Dr. Brown served his country in the Army during World War II. He was discharged as a Sargent Major in Patton’s 3rd Army. From 1964-1968, Dr. Brown served as a captain in the Medical Corps with the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Chaffee County Crime Stoppers, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the RCIA Team.
    Dr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents.
    He is survived by his wife Mary Brown of Maysville and son Fred (Rose) Brown of Wamego. Grand¬children Todd (Kelly) Brown and Toby (Kourtney) Brown all of Rossville. Great-grandchildren Kristin Brown of Rossville, Rachelle Brown of Topeka, Dylan Brown and Halie Brown of Rossville. Brother-in-law Gene (Mary) Grillot of Maysville and niece Dr. Suzanne (Rob) Elton of Dallas, Tex.
    Memorial services are set for 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Salida. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
