Mrs. Charles Johnson Dead.
Mrs. Charles JOHNSON, one of Scranton's earliest settlers, died at her home Wednesday night about midnight.
Several weeks ago Mr. Johnson suffered a stroke and had been in a serious condition since that time. She became worse Saturday and her death has been expected for the past four days.
Mrs. Johnson had been a resident of Scranton for forty-seven years.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afteroon.

Well-Known Resident Dead.
Mrs. Sofflie Amanda JOHNSON, (nee ANDERSON), was born June 30, 1865, at elvesborgs parish Sweden. Emigrated to America in 1886, came direct to Scranton, Kansas, where she has resided ever since.
She was joined in holy matrimony to Charles Johnson in September 1887. To this union was born five children one of which has preceded the mother to the eternal shores, namely the youngest son, Theodor.
Mrs. Johnson came to the saying knowledge of Christ as her Savior in 18?0. In the month of March the same year, she affliated herself with the Swedish Mission Church, and has ever since been a highly esteemed member, having served for a number of year as Deaconess of the church, always sought in her quiet and pleasant manner to serve to the general welfare of the church and her fellowmen. She is now mourned by her husband, Mr. Charles Johnson, children, John Johnson, Mrs. Hilda St.LOUIS of Scranton, two sisters, Mrs. John SEGELQUIST, of Scranton; one brother, John ANDERSON, of Sranton and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon from the Swedish Church at two o'clock, with Rev. H.L. Sorvik in charge. Three beautiful song numbers were given by Mrs. Cora MIDDLETON and Mrs. Agnes THOMAS. The church could not hold the people gathered to apy the last tribute to the departed and rich floral offerings bore witness of her esteemed f!
riendship.
Mrs. Johnson was at her departure, 69 years, 3 months and 11 days of age.
