| Obituary- Bouse, Thornton Thornton L. Bouse
Services for Thornton Lynn Bouse, 78, 1722 Wash¬burn, will be at 1:30 pm Fri¬day in the Penwell-Gabel Fu-neral Home with burial in the Holton Cemetery. He died Tuesday at his home after a short illness. He was a teacher and school administrator for 43 years in north east Kansas.
He was born May 14, at Whiting, attended schools in the Holton area and was graduated at the State Teachers College at Em¬poria. He received his master’s degree in mathematics at the University of Kansas and was a charter member of Phi Delta Kappa honor¬ary educational fraternity.
Before the Oakland area was taken into Topeka’s city limits he was superintendent of Oakland schools.
Mr. Bouse was a teacher in the former Campbell Col¬lege at Holton and in the Holton High School. He was the first principal of Ottawa Jun¬ior High School. He was principal of Rossville high school for 13 years. He re¬tired before World War II but left retirement during the war to teach in Wash¬burn Rural High School.
He was a member of the Euclid Methodist Church, Scottish Rite bodies and Lodge No. 17, AF&AM. He was a Mason for 54 years and a member of the Holton Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star 50 years.
Mr. Bouse is survived by his widow, Mrs. Helena Killey Bouse of the home; two nephews, Jesse Patton of Holton and Robert C. Bouse of Birmingham, Mich.; and four nieces, Mrs. Amy Clark of Paul, Idaho, Mrs. Mary Shumaker of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. Alice Haydon of Horton and Mrs. Ida Bartlett of Holton.
