    Alfred Miles Bowers and Emma Rosetta Thompson Bowers, Silver Lake, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on December 30.

    The couple was married December 30,1937, at Osage City. They will be honored with a reception Sunday, December 28, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Silver Lake Senior Citizen Center, 404 E. Lake, Silver Lake. The couple requests no gifts.

    Mr. Bowers is a retired farmer and Mrs. Bowers is a retired school teacher.

    Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Bowers, Silver Lake, will celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary Saturday, December 30, with a reception in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Rossville Valley Manor.

    Alfred M. Bowers
    Alfred Miles Bowers, 87, Silver Lake, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at the Rossville Valley Manor.
    He was born September 27, 1913, in Osage City, the son of Josiah and Catherine Rose Rashford Bowers.
    He attended schools in Osage City and was graduated from Eskridge High School, Eskridge, in 1933. He farmed many years in Jackson County before moving to Silver Lake in 1967. He had worked for the Kansas Turnpike. Mr. Bowers was an avid hunter and was a 20-year Hunter Safety instructor. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Delia.
    On December 30, 1937, he married Emma Thompson in Osage City. She survives.
    He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
    Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (this morning) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Delia. Burial was in the Adrian Cemetery, Delia. A prayer service was at 7 p.m. Monday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home, 714 Maple, St. Marys.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville Valley Manor, or sent in care of the funeral home.
