    Lawrence A. Bowers, 72, Delia, died Tuesday, November 8, at a Topeka hospital.
    Mr. Bowers farmed in the Delia com¬munity for 42 years before he retired.
    He was born February 21, 1911, at Osage City, the son of Josiah and Cath¬erine Rashford Bowers.
    Mr. Bowers was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Delia, charter member of Delia Lions Club and served for 17 years on High Prairie school board near Delia.
    He was married to Christina Thomp¬son May 2, 1938, at Holy Name Cath¬olic Church in Topeka. She survives.
    An infant son, James Bowers, preceded him in death.
    Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Christina Brennan, St. Marys, Mrs. Ruth Anne Walker, Auburn, and Diane Bowers of the home; two sons, Law¬rence Bowers, jr., Delia, and John Bowers, Elwood, Illinois; three sisters, Mrs. Emily Reaka and Bernice Bowers, both of Topeka, and Mrs. Dorothy Bundy, McMinville, Oregon; a brother, Alfred Bowers, Silver Lake; and 22 grandchildren.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be cele¬brated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Delia. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at Osage City. Verschelden Funeral Home,
    St. Marys, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association of Kansas, Box 4426, 4300 Drury Lane, Topeka, 66604.

    LAWRENCE A. BOWERS
    Lawrence A. Bowers, 72, Delia, died Tuesday, November 8, 1983, at a Topeka hospital.
    He was born February 21, 1911, at Osage City.
    He was a retired farmer and had lived in the Delia area 42 years.
    Mr. Bowers was a member of the High Prairie School Board for 17 years, a charter member of the Delia Lions Club, and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Delia.
    He married Christina Thompson at -Holy Name Catholic Church in Topeka on May 2, 1938. She survives at the home. He was preceded in death by an infant son, James.
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Christina Brennan, St. Marys, Ruth Anne Walker, Auburn, and Diane Bowers, of the home; two sons, Lawrence Bowers Jr., Delia, and John Bowers, Edward, 111.; three sisters, Mrs. Emily Reaka and Bernice Bowers, both of Topeka, and Mrs. Dorothy Bundy, McMinnville, Ore.; one brother, Alfred Bowers, Silver Lake; and 22 grandchildren.
    Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Wed¬nesday, Nov. 9, at Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys. Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday, at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Delia.
    Active casket bearers were Larry Bowers, John Bowers, John Walker, Jimmy Brennan, James Walker and John Walker. Honorary casket bearers were Bill Brees, Don Brees, Steve Brees, Ed Eakin, Kenneth Houck and Don Miller. Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Osage City.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 4300 Drury Lane, Topeka, Ks. 66604.
