Mrs. Margaret S. Jones, 88, Topeka, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, at a Topeka nursing home.
She was born Jan. 19, 1895, in Osage City, the daughter of Josiah and Catherine Rashford Bowers. She moved from Osage City to Topeka in 1932.
Mrs. Jones was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella.
She was married to Gomer H. Jones April 30, 1913, at Osage City. He died Sept. 3,1980. A son, John Robert Jones, died in 1977.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Turgeon, Ogden, Utah, and Mrs. Dorothy Gartner, Topeka; three sons, Bernard H. Jones, George T. Jones and Clifford F. Jones, all of Topeka; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jane Allen, Davenport, Fla.; a stepson, Gomer J. Jones, Topeka; a sister, Mrs. Emily Reaka, Topeka; two brothers, Lawrence Bowers, Delia, and Alfred Bowers, Silver Lake; 24 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grand- children; and two great-great-grand-children.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Jones will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Brennan Funeral Home where Daughters of Isabella rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. and parish wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3601 W. 17th, 66604.
