    Irene Blanche (Bravence) Owen
    Dearly missing her beloved Marvin, Irene Blanche (Bravence) Owen, 88, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Hillside Village of DeSoto, KS. Irene will be most remembered as having an eternal love affair for 62 years with the man of her dreams, Marvin, and being a caring and nurturing mother and grandmother. She was born November 4,1921 in Rossville, KS to Marie and Frank Bravence. During WWII Irene worked at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant in Northwest Johnson County, then as a Supervisor at Hallmark Cards for thirteen years which she left to raise a family. Later she worked as a baker at the Dinkle Pie Shop in Topeka, KS. She was a graduate of Seaman High School and a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Topeka, KS.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin J. Owen, on January 27, 2010, her parents, two sisters, and two brothers. She is survived by daughter Nancy L. Davis and her husband Jim; son; Mark J. Owen and his wife Lisa; daughter, Connie L. Smith and her husband Mike, nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. We wish to thank the staff of Hillside Village Nursing Home and the Heart of America Hospice for their affectionate care of Irene.

    Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW Tenth Avenue, Topeka KS 66604. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum Topeka, KS.
