| Obituary- Lohmeyer, James JAMES HENRY LOHMEYER
ST. MARYS—Retired Chief Warrant Officer 3, James Henry Lohmeyer, 84, passed away Friday, May 20, 2015 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
He was born December 16, 1931 at Washington, MO., the son of Otto Henry and Jewell Mary Hoffmann Lohmeyer.
Mr. Lohmeyer served in the United States Army retiring on August 31, 1969. He was the director of Transportation for Gary County Unified School District before moving to Emporia where he attended Emporia State University and received his Bachelors of Science in education. He received his Master’s Degree from Kansas State University. Mr. Lohmeyer taught industrial arts at St. John’s Military School in Salina until he retired. He moved to Wamego in 1995 and to St Marys in 2000. He was a member of Mt Calvary Lutheran Church in Wamego. He was a life member of KSU Alumni Association, Retired Officers Association and was a past member of the Elks Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Shirley.
On June 8, 1953 he was united in marriage to Laura B. Lawrence at Washington, MO. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Michael (Eileen) Lohmeyer, Henderson, NV, and Mark Lohmeyer, Lawrence; his daughter, Kimberly Brummer, Rossville; grandchildren, Sara, Katie and Samantha Lohmeyer and Kelly, Ashley and Nicholas Brummer; his great-granddaughter Lexi Findley.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Wamego. Interment will be in the Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Riley. Mr. Lohmeyer will lie in state at the church an hour before service time.
