| Obituary- Elmer Allen Elmer R. Allen
Services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in St. Marys for Elmer R. Allen, 73, St. Marys. He died late Saturday, Jan. 12, 1985, at a Topeka hospital.
He was a cook in the diet kitchen at the Topeka Veterans Administration Hospital 28 years before he retired.
Mr. Allen was born Dec. 9, 1911, at St. Marys, the son of Oscar and Mathilda
Danielson Allen. He was a lifelong St.
Marys resident and served in the Army during World War II.
He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 555 and Disabled American Veterans, both at Topeka; Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville; and the United Methodist Church at St. Marys.
Survivors include a brother, August
Allen, Topeka; and two sisters, Mrs. Regina Schraeder and Mrs. Clementine Hanrahan, both of St. Marys.
Burial was in Valley View Cemetery at St. Marys. Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys, was in charge of arrangements. Military rites were conducted at gravesite by Jimmy Lillard - American Legion Post #31 of Rossville. Pallbearers were Bob Scheier, Conrad Hesse, Mike Fuhr, Art Harries, Jack O'Roarke, and William V. Rogers. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church at St. Marys.
