  Obituary- Barnes, Ronald Ronald L. Barnes Ronald L. “Ronnie” Barnes, 80, Topeka, died Monday, February 21, 2005, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. He was born December 20, 1924 in Soldier, the son of Lester L. and Florence O. Riggs Barnes. He graduated from Soldier High School in 1942 and attended Kansas State University. He lived in Delia for 21 years before moving to Topeka in 1978. Ronnie worked for Goodyear in Topeka for 29 ½ years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of Rolling Hills Christian Church, Topeka. He was a member of United Rubber Workers Union Local #307. He married Marilyn J. Vanderwall on March 14, 1948, in Soldier. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Jackie A. Barnes, Sabetha, Terry W. Barnes and Ronald R. Barnes, both of Topeka; a daughter, Vickie Jo Lesser, Topeka; two brothers , Jarrel L. Barnes and Robert A. Barnes, both of Topeka; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. His service was Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home, Holton. Burial was in Soldier Cemetery. The family greeted friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Rolling Hills Christian Church, Midland Hospice, or the American Diabetes Association and sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton 66436.
