| Obituary- Adams, Mary Grandma Adams At Rest
Grandma Adams as she was known here in Rossville by her many friends, mother of Mrs. T.W. Andrews and Mrs. Eugene Miller, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Miller at Long Beach, Calif. Friday morning, March 2, at the age of nearly ninety years. The remains were brought back to Maple Hill, her old home, for burial. Services were held at the Congregational church, the Rev. Willis Goldsmith assistant pastor of the First Congregational church of Topeka having charge of the services.
By request of Mrs. Andrews the twenty-third Psalm was read and the same hymns were sung by the quartette that was sung at the burial services of Mrs. Adams’ husband who passed away some thirteen years ago.
Grandma Adams leaves two sons and two daughters – Mr. Franklin Adams and Mr. H. G. Adams, of Maple Hill, Mrs. T.W. Andrews and Mrs. Eugene Miller of Los Angeles, Calif. Twenty-one grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Miss Ava Sells sang as a solo, “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere”. The quartette rendered, “Abide with Me” and “Where He Leads Me I Will Follow.” The quartette rendering the music was Mrs. O. E. Winkler, Mrs. J.D. Weaver, Mr. Black and Mr. John Turnbull with Mrs. David Stewart as organist. Acting pall bearers were Mr. Fred Raymond of Emporia, J.C. Bradley of Rossville; W.J. Tod, Mr. Thompson, F. McClelland and David Stewart of Maple Hill.
Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Vorhies and Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Bradley attended the funeral of Grandma Adams at Maple Hill Thursday of last week. March 15, 1917.
