    James Zima and Teresa Rezac were married June 2, 1943 at Holy Cross Church, Emmett. He is retired from farming and the livestock sales business. She is retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

    TERESA ELIZABETH ZIMA
    Teresa Elizabeth Zima, 96, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at a Topeka Hospital.

    She was born October 9, 1920 at Emmett, the daughter of Albert and Anna M. Schoemann Rezac. Teresa was raised in the Emmett community and graduated from Emmett High School.

    Teresa and her husband James operated the Zima Sale Barn in Emmett many years. She also worked at the Emmett Post Office many years. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Emmett before moving to St. Marys in 1993 when she became a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

    On June 2,1943 Teresa was united in marriage to James Zima. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Clarence Rezac; and two sisters, Lucille Brunin and Bernadine McEnroe.

    Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Kathleen McNeive and Eileen Knipp both of St. Marys; as well as many nieces and nephews.

    Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Mrs. Zima laid in state after 4:00 P.M. on Friday, August 18 at Piper Funeral Home where a rosary was recited at 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple Street, St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
