    Obituary- Brees, Douglas
    EMMETT -- Douglas Gene Brees, 36, Emmett, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at a Topeka hospital.
    He was born Sept. 22, 1967, in Topeka, to Don Brees Sr. and Joye Davin Brees. He had lived in the Emmett community all his life. He attended Emmett Grade School and graduated from St. Marys High School in 1986.
    In 1987, he worked for Country Carpets of Rossville. In 1992, he started working for USD 321 as a coach and custodian, where he was employed until his death.
    He was a lifetime member of Emmett United Methodist Church. He lived on a farm with his brother just east of Emmett. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Lester Davin and William Brees.
    Survivors include his parents, Don Sr. and Joye Brees, rural Emmett; two brothers, Don Brees Jr., Holton and David Brees, rural Emmett; a sister, Dana Michael, Sabetha; grandmothers, Julia Brees, Delia, and Myrtle Davin, Topeka; a niece; two nephews; and countless people who considered him a friend, brother and coach.
    Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Marys High School gymnasium. Burial will be in Adrian Cemetery near Delia. He will lie in state after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys, where there will be a family visitation from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
    Memorial contributions may be made to Douglas Gene Brees Memorial fund to be used for a scholarship fund for athletes at St. Marys High School and sent in care of St. Marys State Bank, 905 East Bertrand, St. Marys, 66536.
