    James M. Brian, 87, Rossville, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at the Rossville Valley Manor. He was born Feb. 4, 1914, in Arriba, CO, the son of Benjamin B. and Effie Norman Brian.
    Mr. Brian had lived in the Rossville community since 1987. He grew up in Colorado and had lived in New Mexico before moving to Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He moved to Kansas in 1948, first living in Havensville where he was a farmer and an electrician. He moved to Topeka where he lived for several years and moved to Meriden where he lived for 28 years. He had worked for Ed Marlings in Topeka and at Kansas State University. He was a maintenance supervisor at Perry State Park. In 1979 he retired from Kansas Neurological Institute in Topeka.
    He was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church and Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion, both at Rossville.
    On Oct. 8, 1941, he was married to Cornelia R. Winfough at Beaver County, OK. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, James. H. Brian, Rossville, and Chris E. Brian, Topeka; a daughter, Lanell Nettles, Corpus Christi, TX; three brothers, Lawrence Brian, Arvada, CO., Evan Brian, Cortez, Co., and Wallace Brian, Loveland, Co.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will be Tuesday at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville. A family visitation will be from 7 until 8 p.m. Mr. Brian's service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Rossville United Methodist Church in Rossville. Burial will be in the Havensville Cemetery at Havensville.

    James M. Brian
    ROSSVILLE—James M. Brian, 87, Rossville, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at a Rossville nursing home.
    He was born Feb. 4, 1914, in Arriba, Colo., to Benjamin B. and Effie Norman Brian, He spent his early life in Colorado and lived in New Mexico before he moved to Oklahoma. He moved to Havensville in 1948 and was a farmer and electri¬cian. He then lived in Topeka for several years and then in Meriden for 28 years. He worked for Ed Marling stores in Topeka and for Kansas State Uni¬versity in Manhattan.
    He was a maintenance supervisor at Perry State Park and later worked at Kansas Neurological Institute in Topeka before he retired in 1979. He lived in the Rossville community since 1987.
    He was an Army veteran of World War II.
    He was a member of the United Methodist Church and Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion, both in Rossville.

    Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Rossville. Burial will be in Havensville Cemetery. Mr. Brian will lie in state from.3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
