  Obituary- McDowell, Carolyn Mrs. Carolyn A. McDowell ONAGA - Mrs. Carolyn A. McDowell, 47, Onaga, died Wednesday, July 6, 1988, at an Onaga hospital. She had cancer. Mrs. McDowell was a former aide at Golden Acres Nursing Home in Onaga. She was born Nov. 3, 1940, northeast of Emmett, the daughter of Bill and Julia Bahner Brees. She attended Halligan and Emmett grade schools and was graduated in 1958 from Emmett High School. Mrs. McDowell was a member of the Congregational Church, the church choir, Onaga Extension Homemakers Unit and was an active Girl Scout leader, all at Onaga. She was married to Larry McDowell of Onaga April 23, 1960, at Emmett. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Krohn, Wheaton, and Colleen Whitmore, Belle Plaine; a son, Terry McDowell, at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brees, Emmett [sic Delia correction written in]; two brothers, Donald Brees and William Lee Brees, both of Emmett; and four grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Congregational Church at Onaga. Burial will be in Onaga Cemetery. Mrs. McDowell will lie in state from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and Friday at Tessendorf Mortuary in Onaga and from 9 until 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Contributions may be made to the Carolyn McDowell Memorial Fund to be designated later time by relatives and sent in care of the funeral home.
