| Obituary- Crites, Jack Jack A. Crites
Jack A. Crites, 86, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, October 28,2017 at a Topeka hospital. He was born April 3,1931 in Osage City, Kansas, the son of Chester and Anna Mae (Barry) Crites.
Jack graduated from Topeka High School and attended Washburn University. He was an Army Veteran during the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart. Jack was employed by the Santa Fe Railway for over 43 years before retiring. He was involved in helping with Meals on Wheels and was a member of Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Jack married Fannie “Lou” Brock in September, 1970. She preceded him in death on April 12,2012. He was also preced-ed in death by his brother, Barry Crites.
Survivors include their children, Barbara (Mike) Brown, Cheryl (Skip) Brading and Robyn Crites, all of Topeka, six grandchildren, Mike, Katie, Chad, Melissa, Cyril and Obryn and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2,2017 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Jack will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 1,2017 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Meals on Wheels, 2701SW East Circle Dr. South, Ste. 2, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
