| Obituary- Moore, Betty Moore
Betty Jean (Scheidegger) Moore, 94, of Holton, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at the Presbyterian Manor in Topeka, with family by her side.
She was born June 1, 1928, in Delia, the daughter of George and Gertie (Flanders) Scheidegger.
Betty graduated from Solider High School in 1946.
She taught four years in country schools in Jackson County, worked as a mail distributer for WIBW, worked for J.C. Penny in Holton, two years for BMB and managed Cypress Glen Apartments for four years.
Betty also assisted her husband on the family farm most of her life.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School.
She was a 30- year member of the Pilot Club, serving as a district governor for Pilot Club International, a member of Holton Business Woman and the Happy Hour Club in Larkinburg.
Betty married Albert Duane Moore on Aug. 21, 1949, in Solider; he preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2005, after 56 years of marriage.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Gertie Scheidegger; daughter, Janis Tapley; and three brothers, Dale and Fred Scheidegger and infant brother Clarence.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Biber (Gary) of Topeka and Kathleen Stephen (Dennis) of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a son, Gregory Moore; two sisters; Lois Johnson and Elsie Ingels, both of Topeka; six grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 1 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
Burial followed in Holton Cemetery.
