    Death Takes G.W. Stumbaugh
He Was Stricken by Heart Disease Thursday Forenoon
    Dropped Dead in His Home
Had Been in Reasonably Good Health

Death came to George W. Stumbaugh, one of the old citizens of Rossville community, at 4 o'clock Thursday morning. Mr. Stumbaugh was at his home northwest of Rossville, when he died. Heart disease was the cause. He was 78 years old.

The death of Mr. Stumbaugh is a shock to Rossville and community. Although he had contracted a cold within the past few weeks, his physical condition seemed as good as usual and when he visited in Rossville last Monday he seemed good for many years more. Mr. Stumbaugh awoke about midnight last Wednesday night and complained of feeling ill. He arose, put on his clothes and went down stairs. Mrs. Stumbaugh also had gotten up, to give him assistance if necessary. About 4 o'clock Mr. Stumbaugh suffered an attack of heart disease and passed away.

Mr. Stumbaugh was born Jan. 31, 1834, in Blaine, Perry county, Pa. He was married in 1858 and came to Kansas in 1882 and settled on a farm one mile west of Rossville. His wife died, leaving one son, S.F. Stumbaugh. Twelve years ago Mr. Stumbaugh was married to Mrs. Frances DeBurrows. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, one son, S.F. Stumbaugh, one granddaughter and two grandsons.

Mr. Stumbaugh was a member of the Methodist church for forty years. He was respected by all who knew him, and honored as a good neighbor and kind-hearted, peace-loving citizen. He will be missed by scores of friends and neighbors whose long and friendly association with him made him a cherished friend.

The funeral service will be held from the Methodist church at 2:30 this (Friday) afternoon. The burial will be in Rossville cemetery.
