    Miss Hazel James and Mr. Frank Parr were united in marriage at the Presbyterian manse in Topeka yesterday by the Rev. H.L. Nelson. After a short trip to Manhattan they will return home to Rossville.

    Mrs. Parr is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.E. James, is a graduate of the Rossville high school, and is very popular among her circle of friends. Mr. Parr is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J.M Parr. He was born an raised in this vicinity and has spent his life on the farm. Mr. Parr has rented the farm owned by Ed Patterson for the next year and he and his bride will be "At Home" to their many friends after March 1.

    The ceremony at Topeka was witnessed only by the parents of the contracting couple. After spending the night in Topeka they went to Manhattan today to visit the brothers of Mr. Parr who are attending K.S.A.C. The Reporter joins their many friends in extending congratulations.

    Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Parr entertained last Sunday at dinner in honor of their son Frank and his bride, the following: Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Shideler and the family of Silver Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Harry James and daily, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Cless, Miss Edna Immenshuh.

    Wm. Sneller presented Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parr with a hand made paring knife as a wedding present. The handle was made of alternate white and red colored wood and the blade shaped from an extra quality steel. Several other families here, including our own, have one made by Mr. Sneller and can attest to the usefulness and lasting quality of the knives.

    A number of the former schoolmates and girl friends of Miss Hazel James, whose marriage to Mr. Frank Parr occurred yesterday, met at the home of Mrs. Peter Navarre Monday evening in a "Kitchen Shower" for the bride-to-be. The young ladies plied the needle diligently during the evening. Miss James was remembered in addition by a number of useful kitchen utensils. Refreshments of cakes and fruit salad were served. Miss Navarre was assisted in entertaining by Mrs. A.A. Cless.

    Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parr returned Saturday night on the evening "plug" from their little wedding trip at Manhattan and Ogden. They thought they were getting in without a soul knowing it but home folks, having taken the [pass] to go to Kingsville, where they were met by Mr. James. On arriving home they were given a grand surprised by Mr. and Mrs. Harry James. The following young folks were invited in and were prepared to meet the bride and groom and showered them with rice to their hearts content: Misses Mabel Bings, Edna Immenshuh, Ethel James, Victoria Lewis; Messrs. George Eversole, Ray Parr, Frances Horton and Lance Jamieson.

    After spending the evening in a social way and music, dainty refreshments were served. A very pleasant evening was reported.

    Obituary- Parr, Harry
    Harry J. Parr, 78, passed away at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center Wednesday, April 28, 1998.
    He was born July 10, 1919, in Rossville, Kan., and later lived in California and Idaho before moving to Roswell in 1990.
    Parr enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served overseas on two destroyers, the USS Kimberly and the USS Gosper. In 1974, he retired from Pacific Telephone for 33 years of service while living at Pebble Beach, Calif.
    He was active in Lions Club of Pacific Grove, Calif., and was a past president. He was also an avid golfer who also enjoyed fishing and traveling.
    Harry's life was spent in being a good husband and a father. He and his wife, Bernice, were married Oct. 12, 1940.
    He is also survived by his two sons, Michael J. Parr of Watsonville, Calif., and Patrick E. Parr of Brookings, Ore.; and four grandchildren, Judd Parr and Jenifer Parr of Cupertino, Calif., and Justin J. Parr and Devin L. Parr of Watsonville.
    He had one brother, Ellis Parr, who preceded him in death.
    He is also preceded in death by his mother, father and a nephew.
    His request is being honored that there be no funeral service and his remains will be cremated.
    Also, in lieu of flowers, any memorial gifts should go to the Salvation Army of Roswell.
