Mrs. Nellie Lillard announces the marriage of her daughter Phyllis Mae to Mr. William R. Graves, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Graves of Manhattan.
The marriage took place Friday, March 9, at 2 o’clock in the parsonage of the Methodist church in Manhattan. Rev. Herbert B. Cockerill read the ceremony. Their only attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Merill Persyn.
The bride wore a navy blue dress with gray accessories and a corsage of gardenias.
Mrs. Persyn wore a brown suit with brown accessories and a corsage of yellow roses.
A reception was held at the home of the grooms parents in Manhattan.
After a wedding trip to Colorado, the couple will be at home in Manhattan.
The bride, a graduate of Rossville High school, was employed by Hallmark’s Greeting Card Co. and the groom is employed by the Manhattan Fire Department.

| Obituary- Graves, Phyllis Phyllis M. Graves
Phyllis M. Graves, 84, formerly of Rossville, moved on to her new home on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Rolling Hills Retirement Community in Topeka.
She was born on September 29, 1932 at Rossville, the youngest of five children born to Rufus and Nellie Martin Lillard. Phyllis spent her entire life in the Rossville community, except for a few years in Manhattan and before moving to Rolling Hills Retirement Community in 2012.
Phyllis enjoyed several hobbies, including cooking, quilting, gardening, crocheting and needlework.
Phyllis was married to William R. Graves in 1951. He preceded her in death on August 20, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Mary Woods, Glendon “Bud” Lillard, Lucille Bagby and Henry Lillard.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Robert (Joan) Graves; her grandson, Corey (Stacy) Graves; four great-grandchildren, Kylie, Emily, Braden and Derrick; five sisters-in- law; numerous nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was cremated. Memorial graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Rossville Cemetery.
