    Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home for Freida Carter, 69, who died Wednesday evening May 18, 1977, at a Topeka hospital after a short illness.
    She was born August 13, 1907, in Delia, the daughter of Fred E. and Bertha B. Hopkins. She had lived in Topeka 65 years. She attended Topeka public schools and was a graduate of Topeka High School and Strickler's Business College.
    She was a member of United Methodist Church, Beulah Chapter No. 34, Order of the Eastern Star, Topeka Assembly No. 24, Special Order of the Beauceant, and was a past president of Beulah Belles Club.
    She married Cecil S. Carter on November 6, 1926, in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Kent L. Carter, Glendale, Arizona; a daughter, Mrs. Carol Lynn Quednow, Warner Robins, Ga.; a brother, Walter E. Hopkins, Route 6, Topeka; a half brother, Arthur Hopkins, Lawrence; a sister, Mrs. Ella Mae Barrett, Florence; and four grandchildren. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
