    Mrs. Genevieve J. Cassity
    Wamego – Mrs. Genevieve J. Cassity, 80, Wamego, died Sunday, Nov. 23, at a St. Marys nursing home where she had been several months.
    Mrs. Cassity taught in Seward, Alaska, and was an elementary teacher in several schools in the Wamego area before she retired.
    She was born Jan. 2, 1906, at Westmoreland, the daughter of Wilbur David and Laura Lou Ella Burgess Laughlin. She spent her life in the Wamego area except for the years she lived in Seward, Alaska, where she attended college.
    Mrs. Cassity was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and the Crochet Club, both at Wamego.
    She was married to Ola Wright Cassity Dec. 28, 1930, in Cordova, Alaska. He died Aug 17, 1950. A son, Robert L. Cassity, died June 2, 1986, and a granddaughter, Shea Marie Cassity, died March 12, 1955.
    Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Morford, Delia; a son, Terry B. Cassity, Wamego; three sisters, Mrs. Geraldine Pettie, Ollala, Wash., and Mrs. Wilma Lind and Alberta Stanton, both of Seward, Alaska; 10 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
    Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Wamego. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Wamego.
