    Winter Accident Victim Succumbs

    A collision at W. 10th and Fairlawn Road the afternoon Feb. 5 has claimed the life of a Topeka woman.

    Mrs. Olive A. Cochran, 72, 1163 Boswell, who was injured critically in the crash died Sunday night, July 18,1976, in a Topeka convalescent center where she was transferred from a Topeka hospital June 9.

    Mrs. Cochran suffered chest and internal injuries and numerous fractures and remained in critical condition in a Topeka hospital for many weeks following the accident. She had been transferred back to the intensive care unit again April 26 after her condition worsened.

    Police said the car driven by Mrs. Cochran was westbound on 10th and a truck driven by William D. Eichinger 17, 1033 Silverstone Road, was northbound on Fairlawn Road when they collided shortly after 3 p.m. Feb. 5.

    Mrs. Cochran’s death raises the 1976 traffic toll in Topeka to four. The last previous fatality occurred June 9 when a pedestrian died shortly after being struck by a car at 6th and Clay.

    Services for Mrs. Cochran are planned at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary.

    She was born March 14, 1904, at Rossville and spent most of her life in the Topeka community. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Topeka Chapter No. 462, Order of Eastern Star, and Trinity White Shrine No. 7.

    She was married to Harold Cochran in 1928, he died in 1964.

    Survivors include a daughter, Janet Cochran, at home; two sister, Mrs. Mildred Fisher, 2037 High, and Mrs. Gwen McAfee, Decatur, Ala.; and two brothers, Vernon Myers, Rossville, and Dr. Clark Myers, Atlanta, Ga.

    Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mrs Cochran will lie in state at the mortuary until time of services.
