    Mrs. Frederic Zickefoose was the honoree, Wednesday evening at her home, when a group of thirty ladies called unannounced to give her a surprise miscellaneous shower. Miss Grace White, Mrs. Sam Cottle and Mr. Robert Meade sponsored the affair and were successful in giving Mrs. Zickefoose .the surprise of her life. After a social period Mrs. Zickefoose opened her collection of lovely gifts that included many useful articles for her home. Refreshments of jello with whipped cream, cocoa and wafers were served.     Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Bahner of Silver Lake announce the marriage of their daughter Christiana Ann, to Dr. Frederic Zickefoose of Enid, Okla., son of Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Zickefoose of this city, by the Rev. C.B. Dennison, Sunday, Sept. 15, at 9 o'clock, at the home of the bride's parents.

    The wedding was quietly solemnized in the presence of the immediate families. Preceding the ceremony, Miss Florence Keller sang "At Dawning," accompanied by Miss Lucille Griswold at the piano. Miss Griswold also played Mendelssohn's wedding march. After the ceremony Miss Keller sang "I Love You Truly."

    Mrs. Zickefoose was attended by her sister Elsie, while Dr. Zickefoose chose his brother, Edward as best man.

    The bride was lovely in a dress of pink net and she carried a bouquet of Talmasis roses. She grew to womanhood in this community and graduated at Delia high school and was a favorite with all who knew her. Dr. Zickefoose is a graduate of Rossville grade and high schools and a graduate of K.S.C. receiving his degree in Veterinary Medicine last June. At present they will make their home at Enid, Okla., where he has a position with the Bureau of Animal Industry.

    Dr. and Mrs. Zickefoose to Observe 40th Anniversary

    Dr. and Mrs. S. F. Zickefoose, Rossville, will be honored with an open house in celebration of their fortieth wedding anniversary. The reception will be held in the family home in Rossville Sunday, September 21, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

    Friends and relatives are invited to attend. The couple asks that no gifts be presented. Hosts for the occasion are the couple’s children, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel F. Zickefoose, Kansas City, and Mr. and Mrs. Allen W. Davis, Manhattan.

    Dr. and Mrs. Zickefoose were married near Grove on September 15, 1935 at the home of the bride’s parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Philip Bahner. Attendants for the couple were Elsie Bahner, now Mrs. M. C. Rasch of Rossville, sister of the bride; and the late Dr. Edward Zickefoose, brother of the groom.

    Dr. Zickefoose had a veterinary practice in Onaga and Rossville and was a federal veterinarian before his retirement. Mrs. Zickefoose recently retired after eighteen years as secretary for the Farm Bureau Insurance.

    DR. SAMUEL ZICKEFOOSE
    Dr. Samuel F. Zickefoose, 64, Rossville, died Saturday, June 12, 1976 in a Topeka hospital where he was readmitted several days earlier. He had cancer.

    He was a veterinarian and practiced in the Rossville and Onaga communities many years.

    He was born September 22, 1911 at Rossville and received his doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Kansas State University in 1935.

    Dr. Zickefoose was employed by the U. S. Bureau of Animal Industry from 1935 to 1938 and later from 1951 to 1965. He was a government meat inspector before he retired.

    He was a member of the Christian Church and Hesperian Lodge No. 111, AF&AM, both at Rossville. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville.

    He was married September 15, 1935 to Christina Bahner in Shawnee County. She survives.

    Also surviving are a son, Samuel F. Zickefoose, Jr., Fairway; a daughter, Mrs. Jane Davis, Manhattan, and three grandsons.

    Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (today) in the Christian Church at Rossville. Burial was in Rossville Cemetery under the direction of Parker Mortuary. Casket bearers were: Dr. James Brennan, Laird French, Leo Gannon, John Davis, Ralph Page and Elmon Lambert.
