    Obituary- Patton, Charles W.
    OBITUARY.
We are sorry to have to record the decease of one of our very worthy citizens, Charles Patten [sic Patton], who died last Friday morning, aged 46. Mr. Patten has been in poor health for several years, suffering from a complication of diseases, ending with dropsy. He leaves a wife and five children to mourn his departure. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Saturday afternoon, at which time the Rev. F.S. Allman officiated, basing his remarks upon a clause of the 12th verse of the 27th chapter of Isaiah: "And ye shall be gathered one by one." The reverend gentleman said people sometimes wondered that families were called upon to pass into the eternal world one by one, as individuals - not in family groups. After showing that from the cradle to the grave God persistently deals with us as individuals, it being part of His settled plan, he commended trust and confidence in One "who is too wise to err and too good to be unkind," and enjoined belief in the Master, who declared that What we know not now we shall know hereafter. During the service the choir sang several hymns that they had selected for the occasion. The remains were deposited in the Rossville cemetery, Undertaker Somers being in charge.
