  Obituary- Cornell, Carl Carl Cornell Carl Cornell, 71, of Rossville, died Sept. 1, 2013. Carl was born Nov. 17, 1939, to Carl and Violet Cornell in Marion County, Indiana. He was a Marine from 1959 to 1963 and later went into the Navy as a Seabee from 1976 to 1980. After the military he was a volunteer for the Marine Corps League in Indiana. He worked for GM 21 years; upon retirement from GM, he moved to Europe to enjoy retirement. After Europe, he did some over-the-road truck driving. Carl retired from truck driving and moved to Florida for a few years before making the final move to Kansas to live out the remainder of his years. Carl is survived by daughter, Cathy and her husband, Wayne Porter; siblings, Richard Cornell, Kenneth Cornell and wife Mindy, Russell Cornell and wife Mary Jane, Ralph Cornell, Rosie Morgan and husband Alan, and Sally; mother, Violet Cornell; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Carl was preceded in death by his father, Carl Cornell. A graveside service was held Sept. 5 at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, KS 66048.
