Misses Pauline and Leora Hayes were hostesses to a group of friends, at their home last Friday evening honoring Mrs. Alice Countryman Yocum with a cotton shower. The afternoon was spent socially with parlor games and contests. Dainty refreshments were served. Mrs. Yocum received many lovely and useful gifts. | Marriage- Countryman, Alice-Yocum, Ray COUNTRYMAN—YOCUM
Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Countryman, of Topeka, announce the marriage of their daughter, Alice to Mr. Ray Yocum, son of Mrs. Ethel Yocum, of Topeka. The ceremony was per-formed Friday evening, June 18, at 8 o’clock at the home of the bride’s patents. Only the members of the immediate families and a few additional friends were present.
The Rev. H. E. Straw, of Havensville, former pastor of the Rossville Methodist church, read the service.
The bride wore a wedding dress of white crepe chiffon with matching white accessories.
Mrs. Yocum was attended by Miss Doris Olayburg, of Topeka and Mr. Yocum chose as his attendant, Mr. Earl Morris, of Topeka.
Mrs. Morris was a member of the graduating class of Rossville high school in '83, grew to womanhood in Rossville and lived here until her employment with the United Electric Co., with which firm she still is connected. Mr. Yocum is employed with the Missouri Valley Electric Co.
Mr. and Mrs. Yocum will be at home at 519 West Fifth Street.
Mrs. I. Schermerhorn entertained Thursday evening, June 17, for the young couple at a party and miscellaneous shower at her home in Topeka.
Mr. and Mrs. Countryman entertained with a wedding dinner Sunday in compliment to Mr. and Mrs. Yocum.
Misses Pauline and Leora Hayes are planning a shower and party for this recent bride at their home on July 2nd.
The many friends of Alice in Rossville join the Reporter in extending congratulations and best wishes for their future happiness and prosperity

Mrs. Alice E. Yocum, 68, Kansas City, Ks., died Thursday, March 15, 1984, at a hospital in Omaha, Nebr., where she and her husband were visiting a son and his family.
She was born May 25, 1915, at Rossville, the daughter of Dewey and Florence Countryman, where she attended the Rossville Schools, graduating with the class of 1933. She was married June 18th, 1937, to Ray R. Yocum in Topeka, where they lived until 1941 when they moved to Kansas City, Ks.
She leaves her husband, Ray R. Yocum, two sons, Gary Yocum, Omaha, Nebr., Kenneth Yocum, Ramstein, Germany, and three grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Countryman, Topeka; five sisters, Mrs. Ruby Davis, Ozawkie, Mrs. Betty Barrett, Louisville, Ky., Mrs. Vena May Thompson, Delia, Mrs. Irene Wade, Ogden, Utah, and Nellie Countryman, Rossville.
Services were held Monday, March 19, at Butler Funeral Chapel with burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Ks.
