    Dr. Robert C. Duncan

    Wichita- Dr. Robert C. Duncan, 94, passed away on January 23, 2021, at Presbyterian Manor, Wichita, KS. He was born December 31, 1926, in Oakland, CA, the son of Thomas C. and Mary I (LaPorte) Duncan.

    Robert graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland, OR. After high school Robert was drafted into the United States Army during WWII in 1945 and was honorably discharged after the war in 1946. He then served in the National Guard for four years. After WWII he attended Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR., where he received his Bachelor’s Degree. He also received his Master of Theology at University of Dubuque Theological Seminary and his PHD in Theology at University of Edinburgh Scotland School of Divinity. On August 28, 1951 he married Alma J. Herald in Portland, OR. Robert was a Presbyterian Minister in Independence, OR., Albany, OR., Kennewick, WA., Auburn and Wakarusa, KS. After retirement, he continued pulpit preaching for many Kansas churches. He was a member of the Rotary Club and was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church USA.

    Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Alma.

    Survivors include his daughters, Margaret (James) Carte, Catherine (Edward) Sandate both of Wichita, KS., and Janis (Steven) Smith of Denver, CO.; and grandchildren, Allison (John) Emerson, DeVeaux Carte, Thomas Sandate, Gregory Sandate, Ian Smith and Nigel Smith.

    A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to Heart and Soul Hospice of Wichita and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS 67502.
