| Anniversary- Cowan, John and Grace 1 MR. AND MRS. JOHN COWAN, Delia, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a Mass of Thanksgiving in Sacred Heart Church in Delia at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, November 30. A reception in the Delia School will follow. Friends and relatives are invited to call. The Cowans request that no gifts be presented.
Sunday evening, a dinner will be given for the family at the Community Center in Rossville.
Hosts for the reception will be their children: Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Phillips, Olathe; Mr. and Mrs. Loren Hammel, Manhattan; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Deiter, Maple Hill; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Steinbock, Topeka; and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Cowan, Rossville.
Mr. and Mrs. Cowan were married November 26, 1925 at Emmett. They have lived in the Delia community all of their married life. They have 21 grandchildren.

Celebrate 60th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. John Cowan, Rossville, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a Mass of Thanksgiving at noon Sunday, December 8, 1985, at Sacred Heart Church, Delia. A dinner followed at the Centennial Building in St. Marys.
Hosting the occasion were their children: Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Phillips, Olathe; Mr. and Mrs. Loren Hammel, Manhattan; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Deiter, Maple Hill; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Steinbock, Topeka; and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Cowan, Rossville.
John T. Cowan and Grace J. Kelley were married November 26, 1925, at Emmett.

ROSSVILLE - Mrs. Grace J. Cowan, 85, Rossville, died late Thursday, May 28, 1987, at her home.
She was born Nov. 25, 1901, in Holycross, now Emmett, the daugh¬ter of John and Catherine McNa¬mara Kelly.
Mrs. Cowan was a member of Sa¬cred Heart Catholic Church at Delia, St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Altar Society and Golden Agers Club, both in Rossville, and Royal Neighbors of America.
She married John T. Cowan Nov. 26, 1925, in Emmett. They farmed near Delia until 1975, when they moved to Rossville. He survives.
Other survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Elaine Phillips, Ola¬the, Mrs. Laurita Hammel, Manhat¬tan, Mrs. Louise Deiter, Maple Hill, and Mrs. Anne Steinbock, Topeka; a son, Ron Cowan, Rossville; a sister, Mrs. Anna Hanrahan, Topeka; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grand¬children.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Sa¬cred Heart Catholic Church in Delia. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. Mrs. Cowan will lie in state after 9 a.m. Sunday at Verschelden Funeral home in St. Marys, where a rosary will be recit¬ed at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. Casket bearers were grandsons, Michael Phillips, Richard Hammel, Steve Deiter, Jeff Steinbock, John Cowan, and Ron Cowan.
