| Anniversary- Cowan, John and Grace 1 MR. AND MRS. JOHN COWAN, Delia, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a Mass of Thanksgiving in Sacred Heart Church in Delia at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, November 30. A reception in the Delia School will follow. Friends and relatives are invited to call. The Cowans request that no gifts be presented.
Sunday evening, a dinner will be given for the family at the Community Center in Rossville.
Hosts for the reception will be their children: Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Phillips, Olathe; Mr. and Mrs. Loren Hammel, Manhattan; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Deiter, Maple Hill; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Steinbock, Topeka; and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Cowan, Rossville.
Mr. and Mrs. Cowan were married November 26, 1925 at Emmett. They have lived in the Delia community all of their married life. They have 21 grandchildren.

Celebrate 60th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. John Cowan, Rossville, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a Mass of Thanksgiving at noon Sunday, December 8, 1985, at Sacred Heart Church, Delia. A dinner followed at the Centennial Building in St. Marys.
Hosting the occasion were their children: Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Phillips, Olathe; Mr. and Mrs. Loren Hammel, Manhattan; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Deiter, Maple Hill; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Steinbock, Topeka; and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Cowan, Rossville.

ROSSVILLE — John T Cowan, 90, Rossville, died Monday, Feb. 3, 1992, at a St. Marys nursing home.
Mr. Cowan had taught two years at Neive School near Delia, then farmed until he retired in 1975 and moved to Rossville.
He was born Sept. 9, 1901, at Uniontown, Ky., the son of John and Sarah Barnett Cowan. He moved to the Delia area in 1911 where he at¬tended Goldenrod School. He was graduated from Delia High School in 1919.
Mr. Cowan was treasurer of Gold¬enrod School Board and later of Delia High School Board, both for many years.
He was married to Grace J. Kelly Nov. 26, 1925, at Emmett. She died May 28, 1987.
Survivors include four daughters, Elaine Phillips, Olathe, Laurita Hammel, Manhattan, Louise Deiter, Maple Hill, and Anne Steinbock, Topeka; a son, Ron Cowan, Rossville, 21 grand¬children and 29 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Delia. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. Mr. Cowan will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at Verschelden Fu¬neral Home in St. Marys where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

John T. Cowan
John T. Cown, 90, Rossville, died Monday, February 3, 1992, at St. Marys Manor.
He was born September 9, 1901, in Uniontown, Ky., the son of John T. and Sarah Bar¬nett Cowan.
He moved to Delia in 1911, and attended Goldenrod School and graduated from Delia High School in 1919. He taught at Neive School near Delia for two years. He farmed until he retired and moved to Rossville in 1975. He served as treasurer of Goldenrod School for many years and also as treasurer of Delia High School for many years. He was a member of Sa¬cred Heart Catholic Church in Delia.
He married Grace J. Kelly on November 26, 1925, in Emmett. She died May 28, 1987.
