| Obituary- Crawshaw, Herbert 2 AREA MEN INJURED IN TWO-VEHICLE CRASH SATURDAY
A two-vehicle head-on collision resulted in injuries to Herbert T. Crawshaw, 36 driver of a 1969 Ford pick-up truck and Sam Thompson, 53, Rossville, driver of a 1958 International truck late Saturday evening, Sept 4, on U.S. Highway 24 east of St. Marys near the Pottawatomie County – Shawnee County Line. Crawshaw was westbound and Thompson was eastbound when the accident occurred.
Both men were taken by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital where officials indicated Sunday that Crawshaw was considered in critical condition. He suffered multiple cuts and internal injuries and underwent surgery Sunday morning. Thompson was admitted with a neck injury. Hospital officials described his condition as satisfactory.
The Kansas Highway Patrol worked the accident, but would reveal no information as to who was at fault.

A 36-year-old Belvue man who was injured in a traffic accident of US-24 west of Rossville Sept. 4, died in a Topeka hospital Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The said Herbert T. Crawshaw was admitted to the hospital Sept. 4 after his truck and another truck collided head-on on US-24 at the Pottawatomie Shawnee County line.
The driver of the other truck, Samuel Thompson, 52, Rossville, suffered a neck injury and was treated at Topeka hospital and later released officials said.
Mr. Crawshaw was born Aug. 24, 1940, in Hoyt, and spent most of his life in the Maple Hill area. He moved to Belvue two years ago.
He was employed by General Foods Corp. He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 555, Topeka, and the Shawnee County Mounted Posse.
He was married to Mary K. Fife on Aug 8, 1961, in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Herbert T. Crawshaw Jr., and a daughter, Debra Leann Crawshaw, both at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Crawshaw, Maple Hill; four brothers, W.W. Crawshaw, Hesston, Ronald Crawshaw, Pittsburg, Lester Crawshaw, 420 Elmwood, Topeka, and Joseph Crawshaw, Newport, R.I.
Wake services will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys.
