Flora Belle Bahner dies at age 93
Flora Belle Bahner died at the Comers Rest Home in Combes, Texas, on JanŽuary 10, 1962, at the age of 93 years. She was the eldŽest of six children born to Catheren and John Ward. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Jack, Wash, Artie, and Ollie, and one sister, Mollie. Only one sister, Mrs. Anna Stalker of Rossville survives.
When she was six years old, Mrs. Bahner, her par-ents, one brother and one sister came to Kansas in a covered wagon. They setŽtled in the community just west of Holton, Kansas. LaŽter, they bought a farm home in the Cross Creek community north and east of Emmett.
In 1886, Flora Belle married Elijah Jerome Mullinix. To this union, two children were born, Emma and Theodore. TheŽodore died at the age of 2 months, and Mr. Mullinix died a few years later.
Flora Belle later marŽried Ralph Waldo Bahner. To this union, six children were born, Waldo, Bruce, Callie, Francis, Neavic, and Hailey. Neavic died at the age of 14 months and was buried in Lexington Cemetery. Hailey, the youngest son, was killed during World War II. He was buried in National Cemetery in Rome, Italy. Her husband preceded her in death in September 28, 1949, in Ardmore, Okla.
Until about one month ago, she made her home with her daughter Frances.
Mrs. Bahner is survived by five children. They are Mrs. Emma Keller, Delia, Kansas; Waldo Bahner, Wilson, Oklahoma; Bruce Bahner, Ardmore, Okla.; and Frances Perry of HarŽlingen, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Anna Stalker of Rossville; eleven grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday afternoon, January 15, at 2 p. m. in the chapel of the Harvey Funeral Home in Ardmore, Okla.
