• Documents		Obituary- Cummings, Cornelius 1 Cornelius D. Cummings Cornelius Darvin Cummings, 69, Rossville, died Sunday, December 10, 1995, at the Topeka Convalescent Center. He was born June 21, 1926, at Mayetta, the son of John W. and Viola May Jones Cummings, and had lived in Rossville most of his life. He graduated from Valley Falls High School. He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company 35 years. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Rossville, and the Rubber Works Local #307. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Lorraine Gail Lee April 24, 1951, at Mayetta. She survives. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark W. Cummings, on September 3, 1993. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael Darvin Cummings, Willard; five daughters, Virginia S. Franklin and Sallie A. Kelley, Rossville, Gale Ellen McFarland, Carbondale, Alice Marie Andrick, Dover, and Amy Ruth Hill, Willard; five brothers, Gerald Cummings and Anthony Cummings, Topeka, Theodore Cummings, Hutchinson, Richard Cummings, Manhattan, and Leonard Cummings, St. Marys; five sisters, Theresa Prockish, Wichita, Mildred Schucker, Los Angeles, Calif., Margaret Cummings and Vera Cummings, Topeka; and Mary Ann Waltman, Paxico; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He will lie in state Tuesday (today) at Parker-Price Mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening. His service is at 2:00 Wednesday at the mortuary; interment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1315 S.W. Arrowhead Road, Topeka 66604.

He was born June 21, 1926, in Mayetta, the son of John W. and Viola May Jones Cummings. He was graduated from high school in Valley Falls and spent most of his life in Rossville.
