    WENDI SUE CUSHING
    Wendi Sue Cushing, 26, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at St. Marys Hospital.
    She was born March 17, 1982, in Topeka, the daughter of Scott D. and Denise M. Simecka Cushing.
    Wendi grew up in the St. Marys community where she attended school. She graduated with the class of 2001. She had been employed by T.A.R.C. in Topeka since the fall of 2001. Wendi enjoyed latch hooking, puzzles, going to the Casino and purchasing lottery tickets. She could recite every line in the movies, The Wizard of Oz and Titanic.
    She was preceded in death by her grandmother Florence Simecka on Sept. 20, 1998.
    Wendi is survived by her parents, Scott and Denise of the home, a brother Dylan and sister Deana both of the home; grandfather, John L. Simecka, St. Marys, grandmother, Beverly (John) Munoz, Topeka and grandfather Ivan L. Cushing, Greenleaf; aunts, Linda Tidier, Topeka, Shirley (Willie) Mergenmeier, St. Marys and Cyndi Cushing, Ft. Worth, Tex.; uncles, John R. (Paulette) Simecka, St. Marys, Gary (Pam) Simecka, Topeka and Clint Cushing, in Florida; 21 cousins.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 14, at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys.
    Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys.
    Wendi will lie in state after 5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the fu¬neral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
