    Hood Duncan Dies Suddenly From Heart Attack
    William Hood Duncan, 50, Shaw¬nee County deputy sheriff, died Monday morning at his home here from a heart attack. He had work¬ed the 3 to 11 p.m. shift on the sheriff’s force Sunday.


    He was born September 23, 1907, at Argyle, Mo. He had served on the Jefferson City, Mo., police de¬partment and had been a guard at the Missouri state penitentiary be¬fore moving to Rossville three years ago. He became marshal at Rossville last July and resigned to join the sheriff’s force December 1.
    He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucy Duncan, of the home; three daughters, Nancy Duncan, of the home, Patsy and Caroline Duncan, both of Jefferson City; six sons, Patrick Duncan of the home, Wil¬liam Jr. and Richard Duncan, both of Jefferson City, Bud and Bobby Duncan, with the Army in Korea and Joe Duncan, with the Army in Germany; two stepsons, Johnny and Jerry Giles, both of Rossville; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dun¬can, Eldon. Mo.; two brothers, Lester Duncan, Eldon. Mo., and James
    Duncan, Boise, Idaho; and a sister, Mrs. Louis Kinman, Gas City.
    Funeral services were at 10 am Tuesday at the Rossville Methodist Church, Rev. Don Jones officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson City.
    Pallbearers were Oscar Bixby, Leo Berry, Harold Irwin, Everett Hoobler, Tom Bush, and Horace Holder. Hurley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
