    given a happy surprise Wednesday evening in honor of their 41st wedding anniversary, when a party of relatives and friends came in unannounced. The evening was spent socially and refreshments of ice cream and cake were served. Those present were, Mr. and Mrs. Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Davis and family Mr. and Mrs. Denny Davis and children, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Davis, Miss Catherine Davis, Joe Beck, Mr. and Mrs. William Markham and daughters of Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cottle, Donis Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cottle, Mr. and Ernest Tschantz and children, Mr. and Mrs. George Hahn, Viola and Gladys, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zickefoose, Edward Zickefoose, Miss Dorothy Hopkins, Miss Cora Mae Reser, Mr. and Mrs. H.     DAVID DAVIS

    David N. Davis, one of our substantial and beloved citizens, passed away at his country home northeast of Rossville, Saturday, Nov. 15, 1947. He was born in West Liberty, Kentucky, Feb. 10, 1876, the son of the late May Catherine and Perry Davis.

    He came to Kansas at the age of 15 and had resided in this community for the past 56 years and on the same farm )7 years.

    He was married to Eva Hass, July, 30, 1895, and to this union, two children were born, both of whom, with his widow, survive.

    In 1945 Mr. and Mrs. Davis celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary.

    Funeral Services were held, Monday, Nov. 17, at 2:00 p. m. at the Rossville Presbyterian church, of which he was a member. The Rev. John W. Hart, a former pastor of the church, officiated. The music was furnished by Mrs. Ruth Hess and Mrs. Lorene Harth, with Mrs. Irene Campbell at the piano.

    He leaves his wife, Mrs Eva Davis; a daughter, Mrs. Bernice Neiswender of Cicero, Ill.; a son Marvin Davis of Rossville; a sister, Mrs. W. H. Markham, of Topeka; four brothers, J. B. Davis of Silver Lake, Denny and Henry Davis of Rossville, and Marion Davis of Willard; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    The pallbearers were Fred McColough, Sam Cottle, Dr. Frederick Zickefoose, Jim Rezac, Frank Dannefer and Joe Gresser.

    Burial was in Rossville cemetery.
