    Will Celebrate Golden Wedding

    Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hass, whose Golden Wedding anniversary falls on Sunday, January 5th, will celebrate the event at their country home north of Rossville.

    Mr. and Mrs. Hass were married January 5, 1869 at Holton, Kansas. The guest list will include the children and their families.

    Married Fifty Years

    Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hass, for forty-two years residents of Rossville township, were married fifty years ago last Sunday, January 5 and the event was fittingly celebrated at their home north of Rossville with a sumptuous dinner. The children and their families were the guests invited.

    A few years after their marriage at Holton in 1869, Mr. and Mrs. Hass located on the present home place which at that time contained 40 acres, and through the many lean years of the 70s and 80s kept pegging away and thru their thrift have prospered and greatly increased the original little farm.

    Their family consists of four daughters, Mrs. Charles Howerton, Mrs. G.S. Hoover and Mrs. D.N. Davis, of Rossville and Mrs. Nora Hoover, of Holton, and one son, Herman, who lives with his parents. There are five grand-daughters, two grandsons, one great grandson and one great granddaughter.

    Mr. Hass is a veteran of the Civil War, being honorably discharged at the close of the war after seeing three years service.

    given a happy surprise Wednesday evening in honor of their 41st wedding anniversary, when a party of relatives and friends came in unannounced. The evening was spent socially and refreshments of ice cream and cake were served.     MRS. EVA DAVIS

    Mrs. Eva Davis, 95, Rossville, died Friday, May 17, 1974, in a nursing home at Silver Lake. Services were on Tuesday, May 21, at the Rossville Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dwight Seneker officiating. Organ selections were played by Irene Campbell. Ushers for the church service were John Fauerbach and Emial Kovar.

    Mrs. Davis was born July 7, 1878, at Rossville and spent most of her life in the Rossville community.

    She was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church where she taught the adult Sunday School class many years. She was a graduate of the Flo Menninger Bible Course. She was a member of Amaryllis Chapter 321, Order of Eastern Star, in Rossville.

    In 1895, she married David Davis at Rossville. He died in 1947. A daughter, Mrs Bernice Neiswender, died in 1971.

    Survivors include a son, Marvin Davis, Rossville, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

    Burial was in Rossville Cemetery under the direction of Parker Mortuary in Topeka. Casket bearers were Jim Rezac, Roy Wilt, Dr. Frederick Zickefoose, Ralph Page, Bill Farley and Joe Gresser.

    ROSSVILLE -- Mrs. Eva Davis, 95, Rossville, died Friday, May 17, 1974, in a nursing home at Sliver Lake.

    She was born July 7, 1878, at Rossville and spent most of her life in the Rossville community.

    She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Rossville where she taught the adult Sunday school class many years. She was a graduate of the Flo V. Menninger Bible Course. She was a member of Amaryllis Chapter No. 321, Order of Eastern Star, Rossville.

    She was married to David Davis in 1895, at Rossville. He died in 1947. A daughter, Mrs. Bernice Neiswender, died in 1971.

    Survivors include a son, Marvin Davis, Rossville, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

    Parker Mortuary, Topeka, is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Church at Rossville.
