He was born October 21, 1922, in Delia, and lived much of his life in the Kansas City area. Mr. DeBacker owned DeBacker Chevrolet in Belton, and was a partner in Feld Chevrolet in Kansas City. He was a member of St. Sabina Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both in Belton, and Motor Car Dealers Association of Kansas City. He was married to Vida DeBacker, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Gerald DeBacker Jr., New Orleans, and Randy DeBacker, Rossville; a daughter, Mrs. Romera Whiteford, Baldwin; his mother, Mrs. George DeBacker, St. Marys; two stepsons, Chris Depperman and Bruce Depperman, both of the home; two stepdaughters, Sally Dep¬perman and Dawn Depperman, both of the home; and a brother, George DeBacker, Delia. Mass of the Resurrection was said at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Sabina Catholic Church in Belton. The body was cremated. A wake service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Moriah Funeral Home in Kansas City. Memorial contributions may be made to the church and sent in care of the funeral home.
