    Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Decker Celebrate 55th Wedding Anniversary
    Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Decker, Rossville, were honored by their children on their 55th wedding anniversary with a dinner at China Inn in Topeka Friday evening, January 28.

    Guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Decker, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stach, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Meyer, Gretchen and Blake, all of Rossville; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Decker, Brent, Emily and Bryce and Mr. and Mrs. Urban Schmitz and Matthew, all of Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Steele, Rod and Russ, St. Marys.

    Mr. and Mrs. Willis Decker, Kansas City, Mo., were unable to attend, but called earlier in the day.

    The Deckers were married January 28, 1922, at Topeka and will have resided in the Rossville community 55 years this summer.

    Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Decker, Rossville, will observe their 60th wedding anniversary quietly in their home Thursday.

    They were married Jan. 28, 1922, in Topeka, and have lived in Rossville all their married lives.

    They have four children: Winifred Stach, Rossville; Willis Decker, Kansas City; Gerald Decker, Topeka; and Charlotte Steele, St. Marys; and 14 grandchildren.

    ROSSVILLE — Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Fri¬day at the Rossville Christian Church for Ernest Decker, 99, Rossville, who died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at a St. Marys nursing home.
    He was born Dec. 22, 1902, near Denison, to Thompson Ithimer and Mary Isabelle Akright Deck¬er, and attended Denison School. He had lived in the Rossville community since the spring of 1922. He worked for Standard Oil and later owned and oper¬ated a trucking company. He farmed for many years.
    He was a member of Rossville Christian Church for 65 years. He was a member of Lake Lodge No. 50, AF&AM, and Loyal Chapter No. 176 of Order of Eastern Star, both in Silver Lake.
    He married Mary Orrick on Jan. 29, 1922, in Topeka. She died Feb. 27, 1989. A son, Robert Decker, died in 1972. A grandson, Rodney Steele, died July 24, 1991. A granddaughter, Marilyn Schmitz, died Nov. 27, 1994. A great-granddaughter, Lisa Jones, died Nov. 11, 1994.
    Survivors include two sons, Willis Decker, Ross¬ville, and Arthur Decker, Topeka; two daughters, Winifred Stach, Rossville, and Charlotte Kling, St. Marys; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
    Lake Lodge No. 50, AF&AM, will conduct grave¬side services at Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Decker will lie in state from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Church or Senior Citizens, both in Ross¬ville, and sent in care of Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys.

    Ernest Decker
    Ernest Decker, 99, Rossville, died Sunday, September 8, 2002, at St. Marys Manor.
    He was born December 22, 1902, in rural Denison, the son of Thompson Ithimer and Mary Isa¬belle Akright Decker.
    He grew up in the Denison community and attended Denison School. He moved to Rossville in the spring of 1922, and worked for Standard Oil. He later owned and operated a trucking company. Mr. Decker was a farmer most of his life.
    He was a 65-year member of the Rossville Christian Church, Lake Lodge AF&AM Silver Lake, and Loyal Chapter No. 176 of the Order of the Eastern Star at Silver Lake.
    On January 29, 1922, he mar¬ried Mary Orrick in Topeka. She died February 27, 1989. A son, Robert Decker died in 1972. A grandson, Rodney Steele, died July 24, 1991. A granddaughter, Mari¬lyn Schmitz, died November 27,
