| Obituary- DeGraff, John B. Two More Old Settlers Gone
John Baptiste De Graff
John DeGraff, a resident of this vicinity since 1866, died Sunday at about the noon hour after a prolonged illness at the advanced age of 82. Mr. DeGraff had been bedfast for the past fifteen months, and prior to that time was practically an invalid for many months.
Mr. DeGraff was born in Canada. For many years he resided at South Bend, Ind., where three sisters and one brother who survive him live. In June, 1866, Mr. DeGraff came to Kansas and located near Rossville. His allotment by the government when the Pottawatomie Indians were given their lands is now owned by C.M. Smith. He is survived by his widow, four sons, Isadore of Shawnee, Okla., George of Holton, Kas., Joseph and William of Rossville, two daughters, Mrs. Alice Mileham of Topeka and Miss Frances DeGraff of Rossville.
The funeral was held Tuesday at 9 o'clock at the Catholic Church and interment made in the St Mary's cemetery.
