Golden Anniversary for DeVaders
Mae and Charles DeVader will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, October 24, 1993.
An 8 a.m. Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated in Holy Cross Church, Emmett. A covered dish carry-in luncheon will be held at noon for family and friends who wish to eat and visit, and at 2:30 p.m. a reception will be held in Holy Cross Parish Hall.
Charles and Mae Kovar DeVader were married October 23, 1943, at Holy Cross Church in Emmett.
They are the parents of four children — Edwin (deceased); Pamela, Corpus Christi, Tex.; Brian, Topeka; and Brad, St. Joseph, Mo. They have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

EMMETT — Charles A. DeVader, 74, Emmett, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 1995, at his sons’ home.
Mr. DeVader owned and operated C&D Used Trucks and Salvage where he did welding and was in the truck bed and hoist business. He also farmed in Jackson County and had worked on the missile bases in Holton, Keen and Delia. He served several terms as mayor of Emmett and on the Emmett City Council and school board.
He was born Feb. 14, 1921, in St. Marys, the son of Charles and Margaret 'Maggie'' Glick DeVader.
Mr. DeVader was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Em¬mett, Knights of Columbus Council No. 657 at St. Marys, a volunteer fireman and fire chief at Emmett. He also was a member of Emmett Service Club and the Lions Club.
He was married to Mae E. Kovar on Oct. 23, 1943, at Emmett. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Brian DeVader and Bradley DeVader. both of Emmett; a daughter, Pamela M. Scilling, Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Regina McGranahan, St. Marys, and Margaret M. Blandin, Raytown, Mo.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. DeVader was preceded in death by a son, Edwin R. DeVader, April 25, 1983.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Emmett. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Emmett. Mr. DeVader will lie in state after 2 p.m. Sunday at Piper- Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys where Knights of Columbus and parish rosaries will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday. Contributions may be made to the Charles A. DeVader Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.
