Golden Anniversary for DeVaders
Mae and Charles DeVader will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, October 24, 1993.
An 8 a.m. Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated in Holy Cross Church, Emmett. A covered dish carry-in luncheon will be held at noon for family and friends who wish to eat and visit, and at 2:30 p.m. a reception will be held in Holy Cross Parish Hall.
Charles and Mae Kovar DeVader were married October 23, 1943, at Holy Cross Church in Emmett.
They are the parents of four children — Edwin (deceased); Pamela, Corpus Christi, Tex.; Brian, Topeka; and Brad, St. Joseph, Mo. They have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mae E. DeVader, 71, Emmett, died Wednesday, June 26, 1996, at the St. Marys Manor.
She was born January 29,1925, at Rossville, the daughter of Edward C. and Edna Mae Lee Kovar. She was reared at Delia and was graduated from Delia High School. She lived most of her life in Emmett.
Mrs. DeVader was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church at Emmett, the Emmett Service Club, Kaw Better Homes FCE, St. Marys Literary Club, and ZCBJ Lodge at Delia.
She married Charles A. DeVader October 23, 1943, at Emmett. He died September 14, 1995. A son, Edwin R. DeVader, died April 23, 1983.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamela M. Shilling, Corpus Christi, Tex.; two sons, Brian DeVader, Rossville, and Bradley DeVader, Emmett; two sisters, Ruth Bunzel, Topeka, and Virginia Crupper, Rossville; a brother, Ray Kovar, St Marys; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Friday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys. Mass of Christian Burial was at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Emmett; burial was in the church cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Mae DeVader Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.
